Smoke Alert for areas between COLLIE, BINNINGUP and CAPEL, including BUNBURY, in the SHIRES of COLLIE, DARDANUP, HARVEY and CAPEL and the CITY OF BUNBURY
- A Smoke Alert has been issued for people in areas between COLLIE, BINNINGUP and CAPEL, including BUNBURY, in the SHIRES of COLLIE, DARDANUP, HARVEY and CAPEL and the CITY OF BUNBURY.
- An inversion is likely tonight, which may result in smoke impacting visibility on roads in the area. Please drive to conditions.
- The smoke is the result of private property burn offs and Parks and Wildlife Service prescribed burns in the area.
- The smoke is expected to clear throughout the day tomorrow.
WHAT TO DO
- Shut doors and windows and turn off air-conditioners.
- If driving through the area, turn on headlights and drive slowly. If you cannot see clearly, pull over to the left, keep your headlights and hazard lights on, and wait until the smoke clears.
- People with asthma and pre-existing respiratory or cardiovascular illnesses should follow their pre-prepared treatment plan.
- If affected by smoke, contact your doctor or call Health Direct on 1800 022 222 (tel:1800022222) .
- Watch for emergency services personnel and follow their directions.
