Bushfire Advice - STAY INFORMED - DAMPIER PENINSULA
A Bushfire Advice is in place for people travelling to the areas west of Broome-Cape Leveque Road between Beagle Bay and Bells Point, including Tappers Inlet, Neem and Gnylmarung in DAMPIER PENINSULA in the SHIRE OF BROOME.
- There is no threat to lives or homes.
- There is smoke in the area.
WHAT TO DO
- Stay alert and monitor your surroundings.
- Read through your plan and decide what you will do if the situation gets worse. If you do not have a plan, make one now on Emergency WA (https://emergency.wa.gov.au/plan) , or in the Emergency WA app (https://emergency.wa.gov.au/app/plan) .
- Watch for signs of a bushfire, especially smoke and flames.
- Close all doors and windows, and turn off evaporative air conditioners but keep water running through the system if possible.
- If you have a respiratory condition and you have been affected by smoke you should contact your local doctor or call 1800MEDICARE (1800 633 422 (tel:1800633422) ).
If driving
- Turn your headlights on and drive slowly.
- Watch for emergency services personnel and follow their directions.
- If you cannot see clearly, pull over, keep your headlights and hazard lights on, and wait until the smoke clears.
BUSHFIRE BEHAVIOUR
- The bushfire is moving in a south-easterly direction.
- Fire activity has reduced.
- It is not contained or controlled.
ROAD CLOSURES AND CONDITIONS
Roads have not been closed, but Middle Lagoon Road may be subject to localised closures over the weekend.
Motorists are asked to avoid the area, reduce speed and drive carefully. Road information may also be available from Main Roads WA by visiting the Main Roads Travel Map (https://travelmap.mainroads.wa.gov.au/Home/Map) , calling 138 138 (tel:138138) or by contacting your Local Government Authority.

- Firefighters are continuing to monitor the situation.

Owners or carers of livestock, pets and companion animals should activate their own animal welfare plan.
