Bushfire Advice MONITOR CONDITIONS - BULGARRA, MULATAGA AND STOVE HILL



The following alert has been issued by
the Department of Fire and Emergency Services (DFES).

Please be aware that the residential parts of this warning area have now gone to Advice - Threat is Reduced due to the bushfire being contained within boundaries.

Bushfire Advice - MONITOR CONDITIONS - BULGARRA, MULATAGA and STOVE HILL

A Bushfire Advice is in place for people bounded by Millstream Road, Robins Road and De Witt Road in BULGARRA, KARRATHA, KARRATHA INDUSTRIAL ESTATE, MULATAGA, PEGS CREEK and STOVE HILL in BULGARRA in the CITY OF KARRATHA.

  • There is no threat to lives or homes.

WHAT TO DO

  • Continue to stay alert and monitor your surroundings.
  • Watch for signs of a bushfire, especially smoke and flames.
  • Be aware of other potential dangers such as falling trees and damaged properties and infrastructure.
  • Close all doors and windows and stay inside if smoke is causing you concern.
If driving
  • Turn your headlights on and drive slowly.
  • Watch for emergency services personnel and follow their directions.
  • If you cannot see clearly, pull over, keep your headlights and hazard lights on, and wait until the smoke clears.
  • If you have a respiratory condition and you have been affected by smoke you should contact your local doctor or call 1800MEDICARE (1800 633 422 ).

Bushfire Advice - THREAT IS REDUCED - BULGARRA, KARRATHA, KARRATHA INDUSTRIAL ESTATE, MULATAGA, PEGS CREEK and STOVE HILL

A Bushfire Advice is in place for people within the Bulgarra residential district and down to the mining camp to the west of De Witt Road, as well as the Karratha Industrial Estate south of Robins Road in BULGARRA, KARRATHA, KARRATHA INDUSTRIAL ESTATE, MULATAGA, PEGS CREEK and STOVE HILL in the CITY OF KARRATHA.

  • There is no threat to lives or homes.

  • There is smoke in the area.

WHAT TO DO

  • The threat of the fire has reduced however you should take care in the area.
  • Stay alert for potential dangers such as smoke and fallen trees and power poles.
  • If you do not have a plan, make one now on Emergency WA , or in the Emergency WA app  to stay safe in future emergencies.

BUSHFIRE BEHAVIOUR

  • It is contained and under control.

ROAD CLOSURES AND CONDITIONS

  • De Witt Road has now reopened.

Motorists are asked to avoid the area, reduce speed and drive carefully. Road information may also be available from Main Roads WA by visiting the Main Roads Travel Map , calling 138 138  or by contacting your Local Government Authority.

WHAT FIREFIGHTERS ARE DOING

  • Firefighters are actively fighting the fire.
  • Volunteer Fire and Rescue Service and Bush Fire Service volunteers are attending.

ANIMAL WELFARE

Owners or carers of livestock, pets and companion animals should activate their own animal welfare plan.
